Jordan was the breeding of a number of prophets mentioned in the Holy Book, as many of them were from it, and the Jordanian land blessed from heaven was the scene of their message and religious activities; starting from Ibrahim to Moses, Elijah and John the Baptist. The Holy Gospel also states that the feet of Jesus Christ and the cleansing apostles have set foot on Jordan's land.
The Bible narrates the path of salvation as foretold by the prophets, and how this salvation took place for people at the hands of the Lord Christ. The prophets in the history of salvation have a great deal. What increases pride is that Jordan is the birthplace of the prophets, as many of them were from it, and the Jordanian land was the scene of their mission and religious activities.
God invited Ibrahim from Mesopotamia to our country to make him the father of the chosen nation, and Ibrahim lived for a long time in our country and our land, then he died and buried in Hebron.
Also, Moses the Prophet who brought the people out of the land of Egypt to the promised land, passing through Jordan, where he spent the last period of his life in Jordan, died and was buried in the area of Mount Nebo, near Madaba city.
As for the Prophet Elijah - or Mar Elias - he is the son of Jordan by birth, from the town of Tushpa, near Ajloun, in the north of Jordan. He lived and prophesied during the reign of Ahab between 875 and 853 BC. He was zealous for the true worship of God, and he was a defender of the oppressed and the weak. Note that, he came from Jordan, and specifically from the hill of Mar Elias at the site of the baptism of Christ - the Baptism, according to tradition, he ascended to heaven in a chariot of fire.
The Holy Bible also states that the feet of the Lord Christ and the pure apostles tread the land of the Jordan, as well as states that John the Baptist, the forerunner of Christ, baptized the baptism of repentance in "Bethany across the Jordan". He was also imprisoned and martyred in Machaerus Castle, near the city of Madaba.
The message of the prophets always remains new and valid for people in every place and time, and the passage of time does not apply to it. It is not enough for us to be proud that Jordan is the birthplace of prophets, but we must listen to what the prophets say, and walk in the path of truth, justice, righteousness, and piety as they know, in order that our affiliation will be correct, so our belonging to the land will be correct in which they grew up, and we will be among their righteous followers and blessed heirs with what we take from their teachings.
