Repentance in the holiness of the place

map

The pilgrimage trip to the holy sites in Jordan is a spiritual experience full of holiness and reclaiming history in a country where Jesus Christ was baptized and after him the Holy Land that Christian hearts aspire to visit.

The Bible, archaeological excavations, and studies by historians and archaeologists have confirmed that the “Baptism Site” in Wadi Al-Kharrar near the Jordan River is the confirmed place where Jesus Christ was baptized, and UNESCO included it on the World Heritage List in 2015.

On the Hajj journey, Christians find the truths written in the Holy Bible and live true and pure feelings of faith, because the true meaning of Hajj is spiritual preparation for repentance.

When John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ from the waters of the Jordan River in the bathtub, baptism itself was a sacrament of the kingdom, just as it was the most important event of salvation, and it was also the appearance of the three persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

There are no limits to deep spirituality in the bath, and Mark the Evangelist mentions that after baptism, Christ heard (a voice from heaven saying: You are my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased).

In search of this great holiness, the tourist goes to the bathtub via various means of transportation, and the tourist authorities charge about 19 dollars from foreign tourists and 5 dollars from Arab tourists.

The pilgrimage journey is a reliance on the power of the Lord and His stages

It takes about an hour to an hour and a half, where the tourist arrives at a queuing area, then the Hajj journey begins on foot, and for those who cannot walk, there are electric cars to reach the baptism site in Wadi Al-Kharrar and other holy places, such as the cave of the Prophet Elijah’s ascension to heaven, which is a clear arch. A real witness to the event.

The tourist also visits the Church of John the Baptist and his cave, and Al-Bint Palace, where Saint Mary of Egypt lived for 47 years, fasting and praying to stay close to God. After that, tourists continue walking to the site of Christ’s baptism to pray and be blessed with holy water in the bathtub.

The tourist feels the spirituality of the place, where the spirit of God, the tranquility of the beautiful nature, and the wild plants on which the saints and hermits used to live, and in the scene is the flow of the Jordan River, and the pilgrimage concludes with the purchase of souvenirs, holy water, candles, and many gifts that express the sanctity of the place.

There are many Greek Orthodox, Catholic, Latin, Coptic, and Armenian Lutheran churches in the baptism, and there is a Greek Orthodox monastery in which rooms are available for accommodation.

The bathing site receives visitors in the summer until six in the evening and in the winter until four-thirty, amid ease of procedures and exceptional Jordanian welcome and hospitality
